The bootstrap procedure is to use your current driver and "tp" to get the new TU16 driver and install it in your system before attempting an stp. i CORRECTION The telephone nnmber for Mel Ferentz in the last issue was incorrect. The correct number is 212-977-5751. Messages may be left at 212-977-8000. BUG The following note was received on the hotline. We have found a bug in ttyn(III). Equality of inodes is determined strictly by inode number, ignoring the fact that they may be on devices with different major and/or minor device numbers. This can cause strange results in some programs, e.g- goto(I). Although the fix appears obvious, has anybody aiready done it? If not, our purchasing people have it in their queue and if . their scheduler has no bugs you should receive it shortly. We are currently running UNIX on a number of systems and have been pleased with the results. However, one particular group we support has been using the Harvard MACRO Assembler with many frustrations. They are attempting to assemble large programs heavily loaded with macro calls which are often embedded in other macros. In addition to being unable | to obtain cross-references most of the time, they also obtain seemingly inconsistent errors that are related to the’ placement of NCALL statements. The errors are identifiable with older versions of DEC's MACRO which have since been corrected. T would certainly appreciate it if you could ask the users group {€ anyone has encountered similar results and fixed the problems or if another implementation of MACRO is available. I have spoken to both Harvard and Johns Hopkins people, but still have rot been able to resolve the problem. Thank you for your time and effort. Sincerely, . a . ‘ Veta f brinch RICHARD C, BOZENSKI Chief, Small Computer Systems
